How to determine the date of production/manufacture or age of Modine® HVAC Systems.

The date of production/manufacture or age of Modine® HVAC equipment can be determined from the serial number located on the data plate.

Description: Eleven (11) or twelve (12) digit Serial number (All numbers). May have hyphen followed by 4 more digits.

Year of manufacture is last two numerical digits. (see Note below)

Month of manufacture (for older units) is two digits preceding the year numerical digits.

For newer units (last decade +/-), the digits preceding the year will represent week of manufacturer rather than month.

**NOTE**: Some similar styles may have eleven (11) or twelve (12) digits followed by a hyphen (-) and four (4) more digits. The year of manufacture will remain coded in the first 11 or 12 digit sequence. NOT the last four digits after the hyphen.

Description: Eleven (11) or twelve (12) digit Serial number (All numbers). May have hyphen followed by 4 more digits. Similar to style 1a above; however, this style designates manufacture week instead of month. This style is typically found on units manufactured within the last decade or so (+/-).

Year of manufacture is last two numerical digits. (see Note below)

Week of manufacture (for newer units) is two digits preceding the year numerical digits.

For older units (pre-2000 +/-), the digits preceding the year will represent month of manufacturer rather than week.

**NOTE**: Some similar styles may have eleven (11) or twelve (12) digits followed by a hyphen (-) and four (4) more digits. The year of manufacture will remain coded in the first 11 or 12 digit sequence. NOT the last four digits after the hyphen.

Description: Fourteen (14) character Serial number begins with six (6) numerical digits followed by three (3) letters and ends with five (5) numerical digits.

Year of manufacture is 1st-4th numerical digits

Month of manufacture is 5th-6th numerical digits

Style 3:   97JKGK153

Description: Nine (9) character Serial number begins with two (2) numerical digits followed by five (5) letters and ends with three (3) numerical digits.

Year of manufacture is 1st-2nd numerical digits

Month of manufacture is 3rd character (see chart)

Style 4:   AKEC08701

Description: Nine (9) character Serial number begins with four (4) letters followed by five (5) numerical digits.

Year of manufacture is 6th-7th numerical digits

Month of manufacture is 8th-9th numerical digits
